RUMOURS: Van Gaal Set To Resign

The veteran Dutch coach has been reflecting on his future in recent days and has begun to doubt whether he can lift the Red Devils out of their recent slump

Louis van Gaal could leave Manchester United this week even if they beat Chelsea at Old Trafford on Monday, according to The Telegraph.
United are without a win in seven games and have lost their last four matches in all competitions.

Out of the Champions League and sixth in the Premier League, Saturday’s 2-0 reverse at Stoke City has left Van Gaal on the brink.

It’s been reported that a loss against Guus Hiddink’s Chelsea side would also bring about the end of the Dutchman’s 18-month stay at Old Trafford.

However, it’s not clear whether he would walk away from the job if that’s the case or if the club would sack him, with the former Barcelona coach having serious doubts about his own abilities.

The Telegraph added that United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has given Van Gaal his backing for now – but that could all change in the coming hours.
