Hiddink Confirms Miazga To Sign For Chelsea

The centre-back has been targeting a move to Europe and the Dutchman has revealed he is now set to join the champions.
Chelsea coach Guus Hiddink has confirmed the club are set to sign defender Matt Miazga from New York Red Bulls before the close of the transfer window.

Goal understands the USA international has been determined to move to Europe and will now head for Stamford Bridge, despite the Red Bulls being reluctant to sell the 20-year-old.

“He [Miazgo] is a promising player,” he told reporters. We’re not rushing but he will be one of the squad members for the future.

“[He is a] young guy, stepping up to the national team. You can see what players are capable of in training.”

Hiddink also praised in-form striker Diego Costa as Chelsea prepare to face MK Dons in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday.

“I don’t know what he did in the previous 20-plus games but I’m very pleased with him now,” he added.

“I pleased with his efficency. We are perhaps depending on him too much but he’s a key figure for us.

“He’s very nice to everyone here outside the pitch. He’s of huge importance.

“The club must always go for the title, we are not here to pass the time. We aim the group on targets, and the FA Cup is of course a target.

“It would be a huge achievement because it is not an undervalued cup in England or worldwide.”
